We were transported to Manchester Airport Terminal 1 by Hazel. She dropped us out of her Skoda, waved good bye, and said the dogs would say woof. (She tend to say that. But I told her once she is a liar, since Hank (one of the dogs) never say woof. Later she said, that Eric (dog), Hank (dog), Bob (husband) sais woof. I told her, she is still a liar, as Hank and Bob never say woof. Woof.)
So as she woofed away, we went inside the huge terminal. We checked in and began to spend about 1-1.5 hours at the various shops, etc. The MA has many shops. The entire complex is quite well stuffed, and if you forgot anything, or think you need anything, you can definitely get it. Despite the name "Duty Free" shops, there shops tend to be quite expensive, however whysky seemed to be cheaper than in shops.
The MA is more like a shopping mall, than an airport. The waiting area has many places to visit. If you like to read, you can definitely buy good books. Books besides are not overpriced, so duty free might apply here. There are a variety of food shops. "All You Can Eat" is just fine for a lunch. It is not too tasty, but better than nothing. As for other things, there is not much to mention, except one thing. There is only hot water in the toilets, so you cannot fill your bottle inside the airport, which is annoying, as we wanted to.
We did not had to take the bus, as the plane was close to the exit. (MA besides has large display panels and lets you know every boarding information conviniently. That feature works well there.) After a short walk, we could get our seats on the aircraft, which seemed to be a bit bigger. The stewies were not so nice this time, and I was not sitting on the side, and they were not very kind, so i had not had such pleasant experiences as on the first flight.:(:P
The flight was definitely smooth. We did not had any problems, and Andi was fine all along. We had a nice view on the UK and the Channel, but we did not saw much of Europe as it was dark then. Landing was nice and smooth, I would say, that this pilot was definitely a good one.
After leaving the plane, we walked to the entrance of BA Terminal 1 and waited. Still waited. I said we were still waiting. Our good guys could not open the doors. How lovely. There were five guys trying to open the doors for us. Finally a police guy, or so, came and opened one door a bit farther away, to let us in. As we had to walk a short distance, our baggages came in slowly. Then we left the airport, called a taxi and came home. This driver was not nice, but kind. He was not a negative experience and not a positive one either. But he dropped me out at the tram, so fine enough.
Woof!
